iOS & iPadOS — Parent Device

Install the QuizTime Manager app on your iPhone or iPad to manage your child's learning goals, screen-time limits, and track their progress.

  1. Install TestFlight
    On your iPhone or iPad, open the App Store and install Apple's free TestFlight app if it isn't already installed.
  2. Join the QuizTime Manager beta
    Tap the button below to open the public TestFlight invite, then tap Accept and Install to install the QuizTime Manager beta on your device.

  3. Open the app and choose "Parent Device"
    Launch QuizTime Manager on your device and select Parent Mode when prompted. Create your account (or sign in) with Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google.
  4. Add your child and link their device
    Once signed in, go to your child's profile, tap Add Device, and scan the QR code displayed on your child's device. Follow the child-device instructions (select Child above) to set up your child's device first if you haven't already.
  5. Configure screen time and assignments
    After linking, you can set daily screen-time limits, assign learning modules, and monitor your child's progress — all from the parent app.
iOS & iPadOS — Child Device

Install the QuizTime Manager child app on your child's iPhone or iPad through TestFlight.

⚠️ Read this first — children under 13 can't use TestFlight. Apple's TestFlight does not allow users under 13 years old to install apps for testing. If your child's device is signed in to an Apple ID for a child under 13, QuizTime Manager iOS beta installation is not available for that device at this time.
👨‍👩‍👧 Family Controls requires your (parent's) Apple ID. QuizTime Manager uses Apple's Family Controls and Screen Time frameworks to manage your child's device. These frameworks only work when the child's device is signed in with an Apple ID that is part of a Family Sharing group you organize. If the child's device is signed in to a different, non-family Apple ID, the app will not be able to apply screen-time limits and you should either set up Family Sharing for that child or remove the app from the device.
  1. Install TestFlight
    If your child's device is signed in with an Apple ID for a child user who is 13+ years old, on your child's device open the App Store and install Apple's free TestFlight app if it isn't already installed.
  2. Join the QuizTime Manager beta
    Tap the button below to open the public TestFlight invite, then tap Accept and Install to install the QuizTime Manager beta on the child's device.

  3. Open the app and choose "Child Device"
    Launch QuizTime Manager on the child's device and select the child mode. The app will display a QR code and a device code.
  4. Link from your parent device
    On your own (parent) device, open QuizTime Manager, go to your child's profile, tap Add Device, and scan the QR code shown on the child's screen. The device will link automatically.
macOS — Parent Setup 🚀 Early access

Install QuizTime Manager for Mac to manage your children, assignments, modules, and worksheets from your Mac — and to set up screen-lock challenges for children who share the computer.

  1. Get the installer
    QuizTime Manager for Mac ships as a notarized .dmg installer, available to subscribers.
    The download button appears here once you're signed in with an active subscription.
  2. Install the app
    Open the downloaded .dmg and drag QuizTime Manager into your Applications folder.
  3. Sign in
    Launch QuizTime Manager from your own (administrator) macOS account and sign in with Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google — the same account you use on your iPhone or iPad, if you have one.
  4. Manage from your Mac
    You can now manage children and assignments, build learning modules, generate printable worksheets, manage your subscription, and contact support — right from the Mac app. To gate a child's use of this computer, switch to the Child instructions above.
macOS — Child Setup 🚀 Early access

On a family Mac, QuizTime Manager pairs the parent app (in your account) with a screen-lock helper — a small app that runs in the background of your child's account: at their login, the screen locks to a full-screen challenge until the learning is done.

⚠️ The child needs a standard (non-administrator) macOS account. The screen-lock helper relies on the child not being able to stop system services or change login items. If the child can administer the Mac, they can bypass screen-time management entirely.
  1. Set up the child's macOS account
    Open System Settings → Users & Groups and make sure your child has their own account with Standard privileges (not Admin). Note the exact username — you'll select it during linking.
  2. Install QuizTime Manager in your account
    Follow the Parent instructions above to install the app and sign in from your own administrator account on the same Mac. The child's screen-lock helper is installed automatically during setup — you don't install anything from the child's account.
  3. Link the Mac to your child
    In QuizTime Manager, choose your child's profile, pick the child's local macOS account from the list, and register the Mac. The app enables the screen-lock helper for that account (you'll be asked to approve a one-time privileged helper).
  4. Log the child in to verify
    Have your child log in to their account. The helper starts automatically and presents a full-screen challenge when one is due — the session stays locked until the challenge is complete, and it pauses politely when the Mac is idle or locked.
Windows — Parent Setup 🚀 Early access

Install QuizTime Manager for Windows on the family PC to register the machine and set up quiz-gated screen time for the children who use it.

  1. Get the installer
    QuizTime Manager for Windows ships as an .msi installer, available to subscribers.

  2. Run the installer as an administrator
    From your own (administrator) Windows account, run the .msi. It installs the parent app, the background service, and the child's screen-lock helper in one pass.
  3. Sign in
    Launch QuizTime Manager and sign in with Sign in with Google or Sign in with Apple — the same parent account you use on other platforms.
  4. Manage your family
    Set screen-time limits, assign learning modules, and track progress from the app (or from your phone — everything stays in sync). To gate a child's use of this PC, switch to the Child instructions above.
Windows — Child Setup 🚀 Early access

    In Settings → Accounts → Family & other users, make sure your child has their own Standard user account (not Administrator). Note the exact account name — you'll select it during linking.
  2. Install QuizTime Manager in your account
    Follow the Parent instructions above to install the app and sign in from your own administrator account on the same PC. You don't install anything from the child's account.
  3. Link the PC to your child
    In QuizTime Manager, choose your child's profile, pick the child's local Windows account from the list, and register the machine. The app configures the screen-lock helper to start automatically at your child's sign-in.
  4. Sign the child in to verify
    Have your child sign in to their account. When a challenge is due, the helper presents it full-screen and the session stays locked until the challenge is complete.
