1. About This Policy
This Cookie Policy explains how QuizTime Labs LLC ("we," "our," or "us") uses cookies and similar technologies on the QuizTime Manager website (quiztimemanager.com), the parent portal, and the browser-based quiz player. It supplements our Privacy Policy and our Children's Privacy (COPPA) Policy.
The short version: We set only strictly necessary cookies — the ones that sign you in, keep your session secure, and run the quiz your child was assigned. We do not use cookies for advertising or analytics, we do not sell what they record, and we set nothing optional on anyone's device, child or adult. That is why this site has no cookie consent banner: there is nothing optional to consent to. If that ever changes, we will ask you first.
2. What Cookies Are
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store and send back on later requests. Cookies set by the site you are visiting are called first-party cookies; cookies set by another domain are third-party cookies. This policy also covers similar technologies such as local storage, which lets a site keep small preferences on your own device without sending them to a server.
Cookies are either session cookies, which your browser deletes when you close it, or persistent cookies, which last until the expiry date shown below or until you delete them.
3. Your Choice
We do not show a cookie consent banner, and that is deliberate. Every cookie listed in Section 4 is strictly necessary to deliver something you asked for — signing in, protecting your session against forgery, or running an assigned quiz. Storage of that kind is expressly permitted without consent under the ePrivacy rules and their equivalents, so a banner would be asking you to approve something you cannot meaningfully decline while still using the site. We would rather tell you exactly what we store, which is what this page does.
We set no optional, analytics, or advertising cookies at all. If we ever introduce one, we will publish it in Section 4 first and ask for your consent before setting it — and you will be able to decline without losing access to any feature.
In the meantime, Section 7 explains how to inspect or delete anything we have stored using your browser's own controls, which work whether or not a site offers a banner.
4. Cookies We Set
Strictly Necessary
These cookies are required for the site to function and cannot be switched off while you use it. None of them are used for advertising, profiling, or tracking you across other websites.
| Cookie | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|
sessionid |
Keeps you signed in to the parent portal and remembers your session between pages. | 2 weeks, or when you sign out |
csrftoken |
Security. Proves that a form or request you submit actually came from our site, blocking cross-site request forgery. | 1 year |
qtm_web_auth |
Security. Set only while you are signing in with Google or Apple; ties the provider's response back to the browser that started the sign-in. | End of the sign-in attempt (minutes) |
qtm_player |
Identifies the quiz session when a child completes an assigned quiz in a browser, so answers are recorded against the right assignment. | End of the quiz session |
Preferences Stored on Your Device
Some pages remember small choices using your browser's local storage rather than cookies. This data stays on your device, is never transmitted to us, and can be cleared from your browser's site-data settings at any time.
| Key | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|
qtm_selected_plan, qtm_selected_interval, qtm_selected_children |
Remembers the plan, billing interval, and number of children you picked in the Getting Started flow, so the pages that follow show the same selection. | Until you clear site data |
qtm_install_platform, qtm_install_role |
Remembers which platform and role you were reading in the installation guide. | Until you clear site data |
Analytics and Performance (Optional)
We currently set no analytics or performance cookies. If we introduce them, they will measure things like which pages are visited and where visitors have trouble, they will be listed in this policy before they go live, and we will ask for your consent before setting one. Any measurement we do in the meantime happens on our own servers, from the requests your browser already sends us, and stores nothing on your device.
Advertising and Tracking
We do not use advertising, retargeting, social media, or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not intend to. We do not share cookie data with advertisers or data brokers, and we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are used in the California Consumer Privacy Act.
5. Children
QuizTime Manager is used by children, and we treat that as a hard limit on what we are willing to store. On a child's device — in the app or in the browser-based quiz player — the only cookie set is the strictly necessary session cookie that links the browser to the assignment being completed. No optional, analytics, or advertising cookie is ever set for a child and we do not build profiles of children. See our Children's Privacy (COPPA) Policy.
6. Third-Party Services
We do not embed third-party trackers, advertising tags, or social media widgets in our pages. Some tasks do hand you off to another company's website, and once you are there that company's own cookies and privacy policy apply:
- Payments. Website subscriptions are completed on our payment processor's hosted checkout and billing portal pages (Stripe). See the Stripe Privacy Policy.
- Sign in with Google or Apple. If you choose one of these, you sign in on Google's or Apple's own page. See the Google Privacy Policy or the Apple Privacy Policy.
- App stores. Purchases made inside our iOS app are handled by Apple under its own terms.
These handoffs are not tracking: we receive only the result (a completed payment or a verified identity), never a browsing profile.
7. Managing Cookies in Your Browser
You can control cookies in your browser settings — view and delete existing cookies, block third-party cookies, or block all cookies. Instructions are published by each browser maker: Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge.
Blocking all cookies will prevent you from signing in to the parent portal and will stop the browser-based quiz player from recording a child's answers, because those functions depend on the strictly necessary cookies above.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. Because we do not track visitors across websites and set no advertising cookies, there is nothing for these signals to switch off. We honor them by default: we behave the same way whether or not your browser sends one.
8. Changes to This Policy
We will update this policy whenever we add, remove, or change a cookie, and we will refresh the "Last updated" date above. If we introduce a new category of cookie — for example optional analytics — we will ask for your consent before setting it.
